General Responsibilities:
Lead, direct and support the work of the regional and local safety leaders implementing the Hertz Safety and Health Program to build an operating culture that integrates safety with daily operations; reduces frequency and severity of injuries, reduces costs and develops a more productive, effective and safe workforce that is in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
* Manage the health and safety regulatory programs across the HERC division to include; compliance counseling; strategy development; participation in the assessment of site health & safety management, compliance and injury reduction programs; and best practice sharing.
* Track, report, benchmark and trend safety data; conduct root cause and other analysis to reduce incidents; establish metrics and report results to management monthly and provide appropriate feed back and results to senior management.
* Analyze similarities, differences, trends, culture, and business drivers in the assigned platform in order to identify and eliminate or control factors that negatively influence safety.
* Advise and support senior management regarding effective execution of Hertz’ corporate safety and health program and regulatory compliance.
* Establish and promote safety and health policies and best practices to reduce losses and liabilities.
* Develop, direct, advise, and support field safety managers.
* Oversee the administration of the DOT program and ensure field operations are implementing it appropriately.
* Coordinate outside specialty services (e.g. Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Medicine) as needed to support the corporate safety and health program.
* Conduct regular field and region assessments, management training, and audits.
* Recommend process improvements and serve as the champion for evaluation/implementation using HIP and Lean/Six Sigma techniques.

Mandatory Requirements:
Educational Background:
* Four year college degree and an advanced degree is desirable
* Certified Safety Professional required
* Safety Engineer preferred
Professional Experience:
* 10 years of progressive safety program experience with a company that has many locations throughout the Americas
* Green Belt Certification is strongly preferred
Knowledge:
* Knowledge of safety/environmental laws and regulations, specifically OSHA, DOT, and chemical handling procedures
* Process Improvement methodologies
* Project Management
Skills:
* Detail Oriented
* Strong organizational and analytical skills
* Excellent communication, presentation, and training ability
